I picked up both of these at this price and I’ve been having a great time with the two. Raging Thunder is a great game that should make any racing fan happy, considering I’ve played quite a few full-priced racing games on the DS and they were complete stinkers compared to this. TouchSports Tennis ’09 could use a lot of work but it looks like they’re on the right track with updates coming along and it’s hard not to recommend it at this price. The controls for both games do take a bit of getting used to but they weren’t frustrating enough to turn me off either game completely. Both games are part of a Black Friday sale which ends today so avoid the murderous crowds and pick them up on the AppStore! Click here to buy Raging Thunder and here to buy TouchSports Tennis ’09.

From it’s humble beginnings on the PSone, the Crash Nitro Kart series has always offered a fun alternative to Mario Kart, and this iPod iteration is no exception.
Featuring 12 tracks and 6 characters from the long-running series, CBNK3D has all the frills of a console title packed into one little package. Racing environments include Crash’s jungle habitat, Cortex inspired space stations, Egyptian plains and a lollipop-laden candy land. Initially only Crash and Dr. Neo Cortex are unlocked, but by collecting the CRASH letters which are scattered around tracks you can open up the rest of the crew. The game’s cup mode challenges you to compete in a trio of four race championships of increasing difficulty. Once those are out of the way, the story mode opens up a whole new series of events that will task you with various goals such as bombing Dr. Cortex three times while finishing the race in first place. Unfortunately, the game is devoid of any multiplayer modes which means this is strictly a solo experience. Overall though, there’s more than enough game play here to warrant the $5.99 price tag. Avatars are the new cool
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Avatars, Games, NXE, Rare, Xbox 360 on November 20, 2008 by MarkEightThree
I want this little gangster in every game I will ever play for my Xbox 360. The Nintendorks will cry “Microsoft ripped off Miis!” till the Shiggy comes home, but I’m thinking these little peeps will be seeing way more action than their Wii counterparts.
It’s a joy to go online and see your friends hanging out playing Gears of War 2, literally gathered around the game’s box and waving you over to join them. Nintendo has done a pretty decent job of stuffing Miis into nearly every first-party title pumped out, so I’m hoping Microsoft follows suit and utilizes the Avatars as much as possible [when it makes sense of course, I wouldn't want to see my mini-Mark on the losing end of a chainsaw duel!]. It would be pretty cool if Rare issued an update for a few of their 360 titles that allowed your Avatars to be in game spectators. Growing up I was a huge fan of Rare’s titles including the Donkey Kong Country, Banjo-Kazooie and Conker series, so to be a part of their universe is awesome.
NIN: Lights in the Sky Tour Hamilton Highlights
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Nine Inch Nails on November 15, 2008 by MarkEightThreeIf you ever have the chance to see Nine Inch Nails live, don’t pass it up. Even if you’re not the biggest fan of their music, the visuals brought to life by Rezor and co. must be seen to be believed. The entire Lights in the Sky show has a cold technological feel to it that brings to life the essence of NIN’s last few albums. I got the chance to see the Hamilton stop of their fall tour on Friday night and put together this little video highlights package.
Extra Extra! Zombies Attack iPhone!
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Games, iPhone, iPod touch, zombies on November 10, 2008 by MarkEightThreeToy Bot Diaries creator IUGO has released their lastest iPod touch/iPhone game Zombie Attack! So far I’ve had the chance to give it a few playthroughs and in my opinion it’s easily worth the 99¢ asking price. If you’re looking to get into a good tower defence game but aren’t sure where to start, this might be a little less intimidating to bite into than Fieldrunners or some of the other similar titles on the AppStore. After such an Xbox-intensive weekend filled with Gears of War 2 [AMAZING!], Burnout Paradise and NBA Street Homecourt, Zombie Attack! is the perfect title to simmer down with.
Bring me these iPod touch games!
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Crystal Castles, Doom, Games, iPod touch, Last Gang Records, Metric, Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center on November 7, 2008 by MarkEightThreePhoenix Wright, Ace Attorney: Although the series originated on the Game Boy Advance, it wasn’t until Mr. Wright stepped foot onto the DS that his popularity exploded. Capcom’s series became a fan favourite thanks to it’s quirky humour and off-the-wall take on courtroom drama. Utilizing the DS’s touch screen, the entire game was playable without ever using the handheld’s traditional face buttons, which is great news considering the iPod touch is lacking in the buttons department. The Ace Attorney spotlight has since shifted from Phoenix Wright to Apollo Justice, but I’m sure fans of this fantastic series would be ecstatic to have either of the power players land on their platform.
