Review: Pour yourself an iPint this weekend

The iPhone/touch has given people the ability to do just about anything anywhere, and now that includes taking a swig from a tall pint of Carling. Well, a virtual pint at least.
The goal of Carling iPint is to safely navigate our tall glass of brew from one side of the bar to the other while avoiding obstacles such as nut bowls, candles and other drunk patrons. There are three levels of play with beginner offering a straight and easy counter top, intermediate twisting things up a bit and advanced pushing your beer-tossing skills to the limit. Once you reach your pal’s hand on the other side of the bar you’re treated to a [spoiler alert?] freshly poured pint of Carling brew. It’s a game ending on par with some of the classics!
The look of the pouring suds is fantastic and odds are you’ll be whipping out your iPhone/touch first chance you get to show off this app to your friends. It’s a great little tech demo for some of the cool things that are possible on Apple’s device. There are similar apps such as iBeer and Beer that have the same feature, but none of them have a fun mini-game included as part of the package and none of them are free.
Carling iPint might not have all of the customization features of it’s AppStore counterparts, but at a nice round price of free, it’s definitely worth having on your device for a few quick laughs. It’s simple and easy to get in and out of, exactly the kind of game that works on the platform. You’ll probably be glad you saved that dollar next time you’re at the pub anyways.
Carling iPint has been pulled from the AppStore in a few regions because of a dispute with Hottrix’s iBeer. Not all regions have been affected however as the app is still available in a number of Countries.
