The Rock Band Network unexpectedly launched it’s awesomeness on the world yesterday, bringing with it the largest ever DLC addition to a music game. The RBN operates in Rock Band 1 and 2 as it’s own music store, with the option to download 30-45 second demos before deciding to purchase the full track. Songs are also split into different categories than the RB Music Store, with Harmonix offering their own top 10 selections among other options. The fastest way to browse all tracks right now is by sorting them as decades, but on first impression it seems to me that navigating through the RBN might become a bit cumbersome as it gains size.
Hopefully Harmonix will make the store browseable through an online portal similar to Xbox.com’s LIVE Marketplace. Then again, when your biggest problem is that there is too much content available, I wouldn’t be worried too much. Still nothing from Last Gang Records though. Dammit.
