Rock Band Network goes live for Xbox 360

The Rock Band Network unexpectedly launched it’s awesomeness on the world yesterday, bringing with it the largest ever DLC addition to a music game. The RBN operates in Rock Band 1 and 2 as it’s own music store, with the option to download 30-45 second demos before deciding to purchase the full track. Songs are also split into different categories than the RB Music Store, with Harmonix offering their own top 10 selections among other options. The fastest way to browse all tracks right now is by sorting them as decades, but on first impression it seems to me that navigating through the RBN might become a bit cumbersome as it gains size.

Hopefully Harmonix will make the store browseable through an online portal similar to Xbox.com’s LIVE Marketplace. Then again, when your biggest problem is that there is too much content available, I wouldn’t be worried too much. Still nothing from Last Gang Records though. Dammit. Check out the full tracklist after the break! Read more »

2010 Canadian Autoshow Photo Gallery

The 2010 Canadian International Autoshow has come and gone without much fanfare, which was to be expected considering the beating the car industry has taken lately. Aside from the heavily CRX inspired Honda CRZ and Scion lineups, there wasn’t much else to speak of at the event. Most automakers played it safe this year and kept the risks and surprises to a minimum, opting to stick with reliable sellers instead. Visit my Picasa web album to view images from the event.

Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer free on the AppStore for a limited time

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on March 1, 2010 by MarkEightThree

The recently revealed iPhone/touch exclusive Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer has been launched onto the iTunes AppStore for the surprisingly low price of free. It’s not a permanent bargain however, as the game’s price will be hiked up to $2.99 on Wednesday. I was a big fan of Ezio’s adventures on the Xbox 360 and I’ve yet to take the swan dive into the iPhone/touch version because of budget reasons, but I’ve got no excuse to miss out on this one. Get it on the AppStore

LiveBlogging the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Closing Ceremonies

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on February 28, 2010 by MarkEightThree

The XXI Winter Olympic Games come to a close tonight after two weeks of great action and historic Canadian moments.

Liveblog of the Vancouver 2010 Closing Ceremonies:

11:00 pm A fantastic Winter Olympic Games goes out with a whimper. Extremely bummed with the musical acts selected to play the closing ceremonies, but it’s about the athletes and not Chad Kroeger [thank God!]. I loved following every minute of these games and thanks to Xbox updates, iPhone apps, TV coverage and web streams I never had any trouble doing it. This was our best Olympic performance ever and the heroes created in these games will inspire generations to come. Goodnight!

10:55 pm We now have K-OS performing with a group of extras from Batman Forever. The dance moves are alright, but the music could be sooo much better. A bootleg of Bel Biv Devo’s Poison? Really?

10:47 pm Proven wrong unfortunately by Hedley. The awkward silence after “Vancouver are you having fun tonight?” sums up these performances. Greece had Tiesto spin at the opening ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympics, why not have MSTRKRFT do a short set? This is going over like a fart in church. At least this Francophone chick is a looker. Read more »

EA Sports finally puts me in the game

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on February 12, 2010 by MarkEightThree

I tried creating my Game Face when FIFA10 first launched last year, but after an hour of Firefox crashes I gave up. It seems like they’ve finally worked out most of the kinks since I was able to create this badass just in time to start my Real Madrid campaign. I’m pretty impressed by how well it turned out and I can’t wait to utilize it in this fall’s EA MMA.This is a pretty good start for now, but if EA doesn’t make me cover athlete by 2014 I’ll be hella-pissed. Mass Effect 2 Achievement Guide Launches

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on January 29, 2010 by MarkEightThree

The shady folks over at GameSpy have released a great guide for those marching their male/female/shemale [is that possible?] Commander Shephards to suicide. The full 1000GS looks like it’ll be a lot easier to attain in comparison to the original Mass Effect, which required a few more hours of team leveling to gain most p-hat points. Not that it’s a bad thing, considering how awesomely epic both titles are. Usually XBOX360Achievements.org is my go-to site for cheevo walkthroughs, but I found this one to be informative not only on how to gain Gamerscore, but also on proper combat strategies for kicking alien ass.

Wanderlei gets an extreme makeover, Rampage joins the A-Team

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on September 5, 2009 by MarkEightThree

Silva’s not exactly a makeover queen/fashionista, so when he goes under the knife to get some work done you can bet it’s to help his career.

In other absurd UFC news, Rampage is pulling out of his grudge match against Rashad Evans at UFC 107 to fill the Baracus role in the upcoming A-Team remake. Jackson will star alongside Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson, filling the role made famous by Mr. T. Filling the now vacant main event slot is the lightweight title match-up between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez.
